U.S. Dept. of Justice wants your Guns

Once again the Communist United Nations circumvents our constitution and "We the People"

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The U.S. Dept. of Justice will start a pilot program on June 18th, 2001 with law enforcement agencies throughout the country in an effort to help take guns off the streets. The Gun Recovery and Enforcement Initiative Training Program will target 10 cities designated by the D.O.J. and will train officers in the use of a new silent vibrating metal / weapons detector call the METAL-TEC 1400. This device is the first weapons detector specifically designed for police officers to use out in the field. Officers also will now have the ability to search for hidden weapons in a less intrusive manner.

In Rochester, NY the Assistant District Attorney of Monroe County, State of New York, recently issued the first official memo regarding the legal implications on the use of the METAL-TEC 1400. In his memo it states that the use of the device would be permissible, under New York law, because of METAL-TEC's ability, in a close contact situation, to distinguish between guns, knives, and small metal objects. However officers must stay within the guidelines of the US Supreme Court ruling, Terry vs Ohio 1968, and other NY case law referenced in the memo regarding pat downs and searches.
